August 25, 2006 -- Lake County Sheriff's Office Citizen Police Adademy Now Accepting Applications
Waukegan, Illinois - The Lake County Sheriff's Office is actively looking for participants to attend the Fall 2006 Sheriff's Office Citizen Police Academy. The Sheriff's Office has graduated seven classes from the academy and is scheduled to begin the eighth class in early September. The Citizen Police Academy program is an innovative community service program designed to provide citizens with an in-depth look at how law enforcement operates within our community. Participants are required to attend twelve 3-hour classes that address a wide range of issues that local law enforcement encounters on a daily basis. Lake County Sheriff Gary Del Re said, "I always look forward to welcoming in a new citizen police academy class to the sheriff's office." Del Re added, "I believe our previous graduates definitely have a better understanding of how the day to day operations of the sheriff's office is conducted." Interested applicants must be at least 21 years of age, a Lake County Resident and have no felony convictions.
